Upcoming Calendar

The holiday season is fast approaching and it’s time to start looking forward to a November filled with pumpkins, cooler weather and thankfulness. Copper Ridge School continues to be grateful for the vibrant connection we have built between our school, families and local community.   Our October was quite an exciting month starting off with our 7th graders experiencing their memorable and educational trip to Catalina. Fall break followed from October 7th – 11th with many families making special memories with trips to theme parks, beaches, mountains and all the other amazing destinations that we are lucky to have close by as Arizonians. The most significant fundraising efforts so far this school year were our goal to raise $10,000 for the CRPTO Education Support Fund (ESF) and we are so thankful we reached it well before the end of September!  Our annual book fair was a huge success at the end of September, raising money to go towards our ESF and providing books to our teachers for their classrooms.  These are just a few examples of how our Copper Ridge community is always striving to work as a team to enhance our school.    These extra funding initiatives help to support our goal of becoming a leading, “destination” STEM school and allows our PTO to sponsor over $140,000 annually in educational programs, events and activities that are not funded by the Scottsdale Unified School District. Other key examples include the accelerated reader program, honors curriculum, and teachers aids in lower grades to reduce our student-to-teacher ratio.  Copper Ridge is always looking to give back to the community and seek out ways to help those in need. Our National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) students have been connected with for years is Global Rescue Project. Our NJHS conducted a newly designed T-Shirt sale as a service project in the weeks that followed fall break. The shirts will have the coordinates of Copper Ridge and the coordinates of Lake Volta, Ghana on them to show the connection from one side of the world to the other. Global Rescue Project is a charity that helps orphaned children in Ghana. The money raised through selling these shirts will send them on a field trip, build new classrooms, and give these children a chance at experiencing more that life has to offer." Don’t forget to mark your calendars to attend the CRS annual carnival on November 8th.  Presale tickets are available from November 4th thru 7th in the rear parking lot during drop off and pick up times.   This year’s carnival includes a truly special treat: our new leaders - Mr. Eyerman, Principal and Ms. Scharf, Vice Principal - have agreed to have 10 pies thrown their way since we reached our ESF goal of raising $10,000 in the month of September!

John F. Kennedy once said, “We must find the time to stop and thank the people who make a difference in our lives”.  As we bring out the sweaters and perhaps overzealously drink hot cocoa by our fireplaces, Copper Ridge would like to express its sincere appreciation to the community that has allowed our student to thrive.   So here is our BIG thank you from us to you - we couldn’t possibly achieve our educational and extracurricular goals without you. Many blessings to you all as we approach another Thanksgiving holiday!
